Iowa teacher faces felony drug charges

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 64-year-old substitute community college teacher has been arrested on drug allegations after a search of her Iowa City home.

Johnson County Jail records said Dona Saforek remained in custody on Wednesday. Online court records don't list the name of her attorney.

Officers with the Johnson County Drug Task Force say they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia during the search Tuesday afternoon. Officers say they learned during questioning that Saforek is a substitute teacher at Kirkwood Community College in Iowa City.

Saforek is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a tax stamp. She also is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
