Burlington children charged in student's assault

BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) — Four Burlington children have been charged for an assault on another student that was recorded and posted on the Internet.

The Hawk Eye says (http://bit.ly/1b59mQX ) three of the four are 13 years old and one is 12. They've been charged with serious assault and disorderly conduct. Police say the attack occurred Sunday near the Burlington school administration building on the edge of Perkins Park.

The video showed the students surrounding, taunting and punching the other child, a boy.

Burlington Superintendent Jane Evans says the attackers have been suspended from school.

The Associated Press generally doesn't name juveniles accused of crimes.
