Judge dismisses lawyer's age discrimination claim

Ottumwa Courier

---- — SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A federal judge in Sioux City ruled against a former prosecutor who alleged age discrimination.

The Sioux City Journal reports (http://bit.ly/18EWQE5 ) Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf dismissed the complaint Thursday by former assistant U.S. attorney Martha Fagg. She'd alleged former U.S. Attorney Stephanie Rose discriminated against her after she raised the possibility of age discrimination in their office. She also alleged she was the victim of discrimination because of her mental and physical conditions.

Rose is now a federal judge.

Kopf wrote Rose and her assistant, Teresa Baumann, were occasionally "overly zealous and harsh" in disciplining Fagg. But he says Fagg was disrespectful of Rose and Baumann.

He described the dispute as "disagreements between competent lawyers who would not back down."

A jury is deliberating Fagg's disability discrimination claim.
