No. 13 Iowa State beats Texas Tech 73-62

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Georges Niang scored 17 points and Melvin Ejim added 16 to extend Iowa State's winning streak to a school record-tying 13 games with a 73-62 win on Saturday.

DeAndre Kane had 15 points for the Cyclones (13-0, 1-0) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Jaye Crockett had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Dusty Hannahs added 16 points to lead Texas Tech (8-6, 0-1).

The Cyclones came into the game averaging just over nine 3-pointers but managed only five against the Red Raiders. Texas Tech held Iowa State 15 points below its average.

Texas Tech tied the Cyclones at 50 on a 3-pointer by Crockett at 12:33 of the second half but the Red Raiders never took a lead.

Lemon's 31 leads Bradley to 68-57 win over Drake

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Walt Lemon Jr., scored a career-high 31 points to lead Bradley to a 68-57 win over Drake on Saturday.

Lemon made 12 of 20 shots, including 3 of 5 3-pointers, as the Braves (6-9, 1-1 Missouri Valley Conference) shot 52 percent from the field.

Senior Aaron Hawley, who elected not to play last season, came off the bench to lead Drake with a career-high 27 points. He made 9 of 13 shots, including 4 of 7 3's and all five of his free throws, but the other Bulldogs shot 8 of 26.

Bradley had a 32-10 advantage on points in paint and 16-2 in second chance points. The Braves also had 14 points on fast break with the Bulldogs getting none. And although Drake had 15 turnovers, Bradley cashed in for 27 points.
