Super Bowl rivals' underwear made in Eagan

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — A Twin Cities area sportswear company will have a hand in trying to keep NFL players warm during Sunday's Super Bowl.

WSI Sports, of Eagan, makes cold weather undergarments that employ a fiber that expands and heats up when it comes in contact with skin. Joel Wiens launched the company 24 years ago with money from his high school graduation. Wiens says he hit the big time when the San Francisco 49ers used his gear for a frigid January playoff game at Lambeau Field in Wisconsin.

Wiens tells KMSP-TV ( ) his company got its "dream" order last week. The Seattle Seahawks wanted what their rivals had for Sunday's game, when temperatures in East Rutherford, N.J. are expected to be in the 30s. The company is also outfitting the U.S. ski jump team at the Olympics.
