Wimberly juices ISU running game

Ottumwa Courier

---- — AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State appears to finally have found its tailback.

Junior college transfer Aaron Wimberly produced a breakout game in the Cyclones' victory at Tulsa last week and he'll get the start again when Texas visits on Thursday night.

Wimberly, who had been splitting time with two others, carried 19 times for 137 yards against Tulsa in becoming the first ISU running back to top 100 yards since Shontrelle Johnson did it in the 2012 season opener, a span of 14 games.

Texas coach Mack Brown says Wimberly gives Iowa State's running game an entirely new look because he has the potential to score every time he touches the ball.
