OTTUMWA — Winter weather poses risks unlike those present for most of Iowa's seasons. Intense cold and heavy snow can make that normally quick trip across town a dangerous one.
Adding to the problem is the fact winter weather can change form, with anything from freezing rain to sleet or snow possible within a very short time. It's possible to be prepared for one form of winter weather, only to have another strike with a completely different set of problems.
