Katie Sammons drills one of her two RBI doubles in her first two games of the 2013 Class 5A Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament on Diamond 2 at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge. Sammons RBI double Friday morning kept an Ottumwa sixth-inning rally alive against fifth-ranked Johnston, but the Dragons cut the rally down and scored three times in the seventh to put away a 7-2 win to end the third-ranked Bulldogs' chances at claiming the program's third state championship. Sammons was one of nine seniors to wrap up their careers playing second-ranked Ankeny for third place in Class 5A Friday night on Diamond 2 in Fort Dodge. The Hawkettes beat the Bulldogs 7-3 in that final game as Ottumwa finished the softball season fourth in the state with a 37-8 overall record.
