Lindenmayer retiring from IHCC

Courier Staff Writer

OTTUMWA — Dr. Jim Lindenmayer, president of Indian Hills Community College for over a decade, announced that he will be retiring later this year. No specific retirement date has been set.

According to a release from the school, Lindenmayer plans to stay on until his successor is selected and mentored. Lindenmayer is the fourth top official to accept the school’s early retirement package this year.

Lindenmayer’s tenure at Indian Hills spans 33 years, the last 11 as president.  The Marengo, Iowa native began his IHCC career in 1980 as the Adult Education Coordinator and, after four years in the continuing education division, served as a vice president for 18 years.

He was named to succeed Dr. Lyle Hellyer as president in June 2001.
