Dean “Dwight” Jones Jr., 78, Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — Dean “Dwight” Jones Jr., 78, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his home in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church (2nd and Douglas St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64063) with a visitation from 1:30 until service time at the church.

Dwight was born on June 13, 1929 in Wapello County, Iowa. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon being discharged from the Air Force, Dwight came back to Ottumwa and made his home there until 1973.

Dwight was a retired over-the-road truck driver for Yellow Freight and was a member of Teamsters Local 41. Dwight was a member of the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church and had spent the last 25 years in the Lee’s Summit area.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Jones of the home; five children, Larry Johnson, Sandy Berto, Kelly Manking, Tracy Streit and Dyke Jones; one sister, Diana Hall; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church.
