Guitarist Dave Paris returns to area for concert series

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Dave Paris Group, a Cedar Rapids-based, Christian-oriented, hard rock and blues band, will be part of the roster for a June 28 concert at the Woodhaven Amphitheater in University Park.

The event begins at 1 p.m. Paris and his band will take the stage at 4 p.m., with other local favorites Piercing the Darkness, Plan to Pull Through, and Rely on Christ.

This event is part of the “June Jam” Concert series based out of Des Moines, which sponsors several Christian events throughout Iowa during June.

Having lived in Ottumwa, Paris was a private guitar instructor with many students currently active in the Southeast Iowa music scene. Paris has performed in acts that have played William Penn University, the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds, and other events in the area.

Paris’s schedule also contains solo acoustic sets as well as conducting guitar clinics for youth groups.

In addition to Dave, the Dave Paris Group includes bassist/vocalist/wife Barbe Paris. A multi-instrumentalist, Barbe is a classically trained pianist and opera-trained soprano, with a rock vocal edge not typically found in female artists. On drums is Robert Yoder who has performed with the Paris music machine in previous bands Holy Countdown and Dark Spectacle.

For more information, visit the web site at www.junejam.org, or call James Ford at (641) 660-9913. For more information about the band, visit www.daveparis.com and www.myspace.com/daveparis.
