Published April 14, 2008 05:50 pm - Courier staff writer Matt Milner featured in magazine BY MARK NEWMAN Courier staff writer OTTUMWA — This month’s American Journalism Review features an article on a national project in which Courier reporter Matt Milner participated.
The story by AJR editorial assistant Alex Tilitz is called “Big Projects for Small Papers: A Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. program generates ambitious series for its 90 dailies.” The magazine describes how reporters from several smaller papers were drafted into a program where they used the resources of the parent corporation to investigate stories around the country. In the article, Milner is described as having returned to Ottumwa with a new attitude about the importance of multi-media and video presentations, the Courier Web site, and the value of live blogging. His Elite Reporter series focused on the 50th anniversary of the country’s interstate highway system. The American Journalism Review can be seen online at www.ajr.org.
