OTTUMWA — Area residents who hoped they would hear Ottumwa’s second Iowa Public Radio station next week are being disappointed again.
Wayne Jarvis, the IPR director of network operations, said Friday the crew to work on the station’s tower will arrive today. They had previously been expected to arrive early this week.
It will take three to four days for them to complete the work, if everything goes right. Broadcasting for KDWI 89.1 is now expected to begin the week of May 18.
The current IPR station, KUNZ 91.1, broadcasts the network’s classical programming. It will be off the air during the work. The work will also cause disruptions in Iowa Public Television’s signal in the area.
Both radio stations were originally supposed to be on the air 14 months ago.
