Carnahan, Damm promoted at Ottumwa Fire Department

OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Fire Department has announced two recent firefighter promotions.

Bryan Carnahan has been promoted to fire captain. The captain is responsible for leading a fire truck company and is qualified to fill in for the assistant fire chief in his absence. Carnahan joined the Ottumwa Fire Department in 1988. He is replacing retiring Fire Captain Martin Counterman.

Rich Damm has been promoted to master firefighter. The rank of master firefighter reflects several years of fire fighting experience proven by the successful completion of the master firefighter test. Master firefighters can assume the duties of the fire captain in his absence. Damm has served with the Ottumwa Fire Department since 1999. He is moving up to the master firefighter vacancy created by Carnahan’s promotion.
