PELLA — Amy Garman, laboratory, was recently selected by a group of her co-workers as the July 2013 Shining Star at Pella Regional Health Center.
Garman, a resident of Oskaloosa, was nominated based on her attitude, commitment and sense of ownership.
“Amy is very deserving of this award due to her commitment to excellence in every aspect of her job. She is not only proficient in her skills as a lab tech, but she is willing to help others in any capacity she is able. She helps in all areas, whether it’s helping clean rooms in ED when we are extremely busy and need to bring more patients back or helping with orders in the computer. She is kind and friendly with the patients. She is always pleasant, even when new orders require her to make additional trips to various areas of the hospital,” a portion of her nomination read.
Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best.
Garman will receive a $100 gift, an ad in the local paper and a plaque, and she will automatically be included in the Shining Star of the Year award.
