Deere completes purchase of Iowa-based planter maker

MOLINE, Ill. — Deere & Company has completed its purchase of Bauer Built Manufacturing Inc.

In early September, Deere announced its agreement to purchase certain assets of the Paton, Iowa, manufacturer. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Deere said the purchase expands its portfolio of agricultural equipment, accelerates the growth of its planter business globally and enhances the opportunity to serve larger farms in key markets around the world.

Since 2002, Bauer had manufactured co-branded planters for John Deere under a design and manufacturing partnership. Deere said it will continue manufacturing the 44- to 120-foot ultra-wide DB Series planters at the Paton facility, which employs approximately 150 people.
