Coram receives BCIM credential

OTTUMWA — Dr. Charles D. Coram of Ottumwa has been awarded the board certified integrative medicine (BCIM) credential by the American Association of Integrative Medicine (AAIM).

The BCIM designation is reserved for those who are able to meet the stringent requirements of AAIM in the areas of knowledge, skill, education, training and experience in their health care specialty.

AAIM is an international membership association that brings together health care professionals from a variety of specialties.

Membership is comprised of integrative, alternative, holistic, complementary and traditional health care professionals.

Financial class at library July 24

OTTUMWA — “Raising Money $mart Kids” will be the topic of a free one-hour workshop at 5 p.m. July 24 at the Ottumwa Public Library.

No matter how old your children or grandchildren are, it is never too early or too late to teach skills they’ll need in order to make wise financial choices as adults.

Topics will include: skills and strategies for children of different ages, the power of example, maximizing the value of allowances and resources for more information.

Entertainment will be provided for children while the instruction is taking place for the adults.

The workshop will be led by Joyce Lash, family finance specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

It is part of the “Smart Investing @ your library” project, which is funded by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) in partnership with the American Library Association, Iowa Library Services, the Ames Public Library and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Bloomfield receives housing funds

BLOOMFIELD — Awards totaling $52 million were announced this week for 19 communities across the state, including Bloomfield.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) awarded the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to support 26 multi-family new production projects.

These federally funded awards will assist communities to recover housing lost during the flooding event of 2008.

Among the recipients: Upper Story Conversion, Bloomfield Downtown Housing LLC, 16 Units - $2,050,043.
