OTTUMWA — Ottumwa Regional Health Center has commenced construction on a new Senior Behavioral Care Center. The 14-bed unit will be located on the third floor of the hospital in the west wing and entails a renovation of that area.
“We are excited to begin construction on the Senior Behavioral Care Center at ORHC,” said Phil Noel, CEO at ORHC. “This is an extremely important need for our community and beyond, and we are looking forward to being able to offer a much-needed service to our patient population.”
The unit will tentatively open in May and will provide inpatient mental health care services in a comfortable and safe environment. The focus of the Senior Behavioral Care center will be to address the specific needs of senior-aged adults.
The construction is currently in the initial stages, and patients and guests will notice construction equipment outside of the front of the hospital. Patients and guests will not experience any delays to patient care during the duration of the project.
“This unit will help to fill a void of services in our community and as construction begins, we continue to focus on planning and implementation of the unit to ensure it will be a safe and caring environment where our patients can receive quality care,” Noel continued.
