OTTUMWA — Tequila Grill Mexican Restaurant is now open and ready for lots of customers, according to owner Rigoberto Leon.

The restaurant is in the spot previously occupied by Kuhly’s Bar & Grill, 112 N. Market St.

Leon is from Kalona, and he’s been working in restaurants for several years.

Why here?

“This building is at a good location,” Leon said. “And we get quality here and can offer more, such as a larger portion at a reasonable price.”

Leon also said his restaurant can now offer special items, such as a plate of combined items. An example would be a meal of a tacos and burritos.

“We will give people a bit of everything,” he added.

Also on the menu are chicken, steak, seafood, salads, nachos and other selections.

Rigoberto said he has visited other restaurants in Ottumwa and the surrounding area. He said he noticed the food and the people serving it.

“I’m here to offer quality with good portions,” he said. “And we have good prices and good service.”

Leon noted he has four servers and will hire more after the restaurant is busier. Also, he enjoys working with people.

Leon and his staff have also worked on the restaurant’s interior.

“It looks new inside now,” he said.

Leon’s staff currently includes Herby Dorado, Adriana Medrano and Amalia Contarero.
