FAIRFIELD — Reports surfaced Friday about a hanging at Fairfield High School, but those reports were not accurate, according to Superintendent Art Sathoff.
News releases on Friday stated that person had been found hanging with a rope around the neck outside of Fairfield High School, but no more information was available at that time. Now that information is available, it turns out there was no hanging.
According to Sathoff, a female staff member found a female student who needed medical assistance. While he could not identify the student or the nature of the situation, Sathoff did say emergency crews were notified, and the student was taken to the hospital.
There was no fatality resulting from the situation, but school officials did feel the situation was serious enough to call for EMS assistance. Sathoff said the student was taken to the hospital, where she is very much alive and receiving the help that she needs.
