Live entertainment slated for Tulip Time

This year’s line-up for Festhouden, which will begin at 7 p.m. each evening of Tulip Time, has been announced. Festhouden will take place on the Tulip Toren located on the south side of Pella’s square. Grandstand tickets for Festhouden and the evening Volksparade may be ordered from the Pella Historical Society at 628-4311.

On Thursday, May 1, Pella Tulip Time will welcome The End, a tribute to the Beatles, beginning at 7 p.m., and continuing after the evening parade. This will give those attending Tulip Time on Thursday a chance to see Iowa’s premiere Beatles tribute band.

The members of The End focus on reproducing hits recorded in the late 60s after the Beatles had stopped touring.

Much of their repertoire, though well-known by Beatles fans, was never performed live and the bandmates work on producing a precise sound, based on those recordings. Members of The End try to imagine how the Beatles may have performed them live while reproducing the studio aesthetic.

On Friday, May 2, The Sons of Gladys Kravitz will be feautred. The goup specialize in performing the very best music of the last 40 years, with letter-perfect renditions of classic rock from artists ranging from the Allman Brothers to ZZ Top and many great artists in between. They will perform during Friday’s Feesthouden show and again after the parade beginning at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, May 3, The Way Worship and Praise Team is set to perform in Pella. The Worship and Praise Team at The Way is comprised of a diverse group of members, who share a common passion for worshipping the Lord through our music. The group recognizes and celebrates the fact that there are a variety of gifts in Christ’s body.

“Some have been given musical gifts that are to be used to bring blessings and encouragement to the church,” team leder Matt Hugg said. “But it goes much deeper than that. We train our vocal and instrumental leaders that the most important element they can bring to worship is not ‘virtuoso’ musical talent, but a humble and sincere heart that longs to pursue God through worship. This is the most important character trait that we look for and try to develop in our worship team members.”
