New Section of Volksweg Trail Now Open

Lake Red Rock —

The 1.25 mile newly constructed section of the paved Volksweg Trail between Fifield Recreation Area and the new Robert's Creek Trailhead has been opened.  The new section of trail can be accessed from Fifield Recreation Area.

The trail cannot yet be accessed from the Robert's Creek Trailhead as the trailhead has additional work to be completed before it can be opened.  Once completed, the new trailhead will feature a vault toilet restroom, picnic shelter, informational kiosk and ample parking.  Notification will be sent out once the new trailhead has been opened.

The new section of Volksweg Trail was provided by Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) in conjunction with the hydroelectric facility project at the Lake Red Rock Dam that is slated to begin later this year.
