Rain can't stop Pancake Day

CENTERVILLE — Ready, Set, Go was the 2013 theme for Pancake Day in Centerville. True to the theme, organizers were ready to go with activities for all age groups no matter what the weather had in store.

It may have been a little chilly and very wet outside, but attendees found free fluffy, steaming hot pancakes inside the tents on the square. Those who didn’t mind donating a little cash could opt for gourmet pancakes with a large variety of toppings.

Working off those calories was a breeze with the 40th Mercy Pancake Day Fun Run, “Flippin’ For Fitness.”

There was an abundance of craft vendors on hand with a little bit of something for everyone. Entertainment for the day included juggling flaming batons, aerial fabric performance, petting zoo, magic, clowns, Bingo and lots of music.

The big events for the day, the two parades, couldn’t be stopped by the rain. Large crowds came to watch the “Kiddie Parade” and “The Big Parade.”
