Over 70 snow ordinance tickets written

Steve Woodhouse

Knoxville — The Knoxville Police Department wrote over 70 tickets related to the snow ordinance in the past 24 hours.

This was the biggest snowfall of the season thus far. The KPD instituted the snow ordinance Sunday night. Whenever more than one inch of snow falls, the KPD requests that everyone refrain from parking on City streets until every one is cleared of snow from curb to curb.

Police Chief Dan Losada wanted to remind everyone that you can sign up for email or text notifications every time the ordinance goes into effect. For more information, call the KPD at 641-828-0541. The Journal-Express will also post on its Facebook page when the ordinance goes into effect.

While many tickets were written, there were few accidents.
