---- — The City of Pella recently announced that Corey Goodenow has accepted the position of Finance Director effective January 20, 2014. Corey was raised in Boise, Idaho and earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Iowa State University. He then went on to earn a Master of Public Administration degree from Drake University. His family includes his wife Nicole and two young children, Lila and Henry.
Corey’s local government experience includes his current position as City Manager at Chariton, Iowa, which he has held since August 2011. Prior to that, Corey worked in underwriting and investments with The Principal Financial Group and was an executive officer at the Iowa Office of Energy Independence.
At the fall 2013 Iowa League of Cities conference, Corey was honored as the recipient of the 2013 Rhonda Wood Smith award, which recognizes exemplary work of young city officials.
In his role as Finance Director, Corey will be responsible for leadership and administration of all municipal financial activities including cash and debt management, long term financial planning, and preparation of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets. In addition, Corey’s duties will also include supervision of the accounting and utility billing divisions at City Hall along with overseeing the City’s risk management and information technology programs.
