BOB held their latest grocery grab event Wednesday morning at Hy-Vee in Centerville. Frank Rinchiuso ran through the store at 9 a.m. trying to fill up his cart as he hit each aisle, collecting groceries, toilet paper, candy, a turkey and detergent among many other items.
Rinchiuso had five minutes to run around the store throwing items into his cart. He had to be at the check out area by the time the five minute limit was up. Hy-Vee Store Director Cole Durrett timed Rinchiuso as he ran, giving him updates as he neared the five minute limit.
The rules were simple, Rinchiuso had five minutes and one cart to take around the store. He was limited to $500 worth of merchandise. At the cheek out line he chose which items to ring up first because once the $500 limit was reached nothing else would be rung up.
In the end he made out with $393.54 worth of merchandise, falling short of his $500 goal. Hy-Vee also put a $3.49 credit on Rinchiuso’s Hy-Vee fuel saver card, matching the current cost of a gallon of gas in Centerville. Rinchiuso can now get up to 20 gallons of gas with a $3.49 credit for each gallon the next time he hits the pump.
The grocery grab was done as a fundraising effort for the BOB group. They have previously held two other grocery grabs at the local Fareway. Hopefuls are able to buy tickets for a chance at making the run.
BOB was able to raise $680 with this latest Hy-Vee contest.
