Hearing set in Fairfield stabbing

FAIRFIELD — A hearing is scheduled to determine whether the three people accused of robbing and stabbing a Fairfield man will have separate trials.

Dustin Roll, Dawn Dunn and Brett Hedblade each face charges of willful injury and robbery after they allegedly dragged a man into an apartment before robbing and stabbing him in April. Each has asked the court to schedule separate trials.

The hearing on a motion to sever will take place July 28. Trial has been scheduled for August 12, though that would likely change if the severance is granted.

In other cases:

• The man initially accused in a child pornography case has been sentenced after reaching a plea bargain. Rass Kerby Jr., was given a 30-day suspended sentence for each of two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• Robert Pilcher has filed a demand for a speedy trial. He is accused of killing Mary Jayne Jones in 1974. Jurors failed to reach a verdict in his initial trial earlier this year. Retrial was set for Sept. 8.

• Kevin Galbraith received suspended sentences for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine with intent to distribute each. The meth charge is a 10-year suspended sentence, while the marijuana charge brought a five-year suspended sentence. Three additional charges were dismissed. He has been ordered to live at a residential facility for 180 days.

• Sentencing is set for July 17 for Jacob Nordyke, who pleaded guilty in his forgery and theft case.
