OSKALOOSA — A collision between a school bus and a semi in Oskaloosa injured several students on Tuesday, though none needed to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Iowa State Patrol says the crash happened at 7:25 a.m. The bus was stopped on Highway 92 with its lights and stop sign activated. The driver of the semi, Kevin Greene, 44, Tracy, Iowa, failed to see the bus in time and told investigators his vision was obscured by a low sun.
Investigators said Greene tried to stop and steer away from the bus, but the truck hit the rear of the bus and ended up in a ditch at the side of the road.
Four students, two age 12 along with a 9-year-old and a 15-year-old, were listed with minor injuries in the patrol's report. They were treated by a school nurse.
The crash remains under investigation.
