Celebrate 109th Corn Carnival with new exhibits, activities

Blakesburg Corn Carnival 2013 schedule of events Vendors and exhibits will be at the Blakesburg Elementary School, located on Monroe/Wapello County Line Highway at south edge of Blakesburg, from 3-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be free entertainment in the park each evening. Thursday: 4-6 p.m. Antique Evaluations in the Museum at 205 N. Main St. 4-7 p.m. Biggest pumpkin, longest gourd, tallest corn stalk entries taken at post office. Prizes awarded at 7 p.m. 5-7 p.m. Dinner in the park. Menu includes pork chops on a stick, applesauce, hot dogs on a bun, baked beans, sweet corn and drinks. Tables provided. Bring your own lawn chairs. 5 p.m. Next Generation Shows Midway 5:30 p.m. Welcome program in the park featuring Blakesburg Mayor Jason Myers and special guests 5:45-7 p.m. Chicken Bingo 7-8 p.m. Elvis impersonator Bruce Buttel Dusk. Raffle drawing Friday: 10 a.m., 8 p.m. Japanese Bonsai and Our Nation's 27 Official Flags 11 a.m. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School Marching Band, one of the best in the state, at Blakesburg Elementary School.
