Rider facing count in Warren County

Steve Woodhouse

Knoxville — On Friday, March 7, the Carlisle Police Department filed a criminal complaint charging Knoxville High School Head Football Coach/PE Teacher Troy Neil Rider with sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Lt. Matt Koch with the CPD told the Journal-Express that this is the only charge Rider will face from Warren County. Rider still faces one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse in Marion County.

The record regarding the Marion County case has been sealed. Assistant Warren County Attorney Dough Eichholz said the Warren County complaint is not sealed.

Rider's next court date in Marion County has not been set. Marion County Attorney Ed Bull had 45 days after Friday, March 7, to file the trial information. A court date will not be set until the trial information has been filed.

Rider has been on paid administrative leave since February, when school and police officials received the complaints against Rider. He remains on leave.

We'll continue to follow this case as it progresses.
