DES MOINES — Crews have finished examining the damage from Sunday's storms and the National Weather Service has produced an interactive map of the storm path.
The findings from the damage teams varied somewhat from the initial reports. What was initially suspected to be a tornado near Lovilia was found to be straight-line winds. And, despite spectacular damage to spots in Oskaloosa, winds there were estimated at 85 mph.
One tornado did form in the system. The tornado touched down in northern Wapello County and eventually tracked across parts of four counties. It dissipated just south of I-80 after peaking at a strength of EF-1.
