KNOXVILLE — Last week's freak snowstorm is being called “unprecedented” by weather experts.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines says the storm broke records throughout the region. In Iowa, the storm broke both single-day and storm total records for May.

Here's a look at some of the records.

Virtually every part of Iowa saw snow. Official totals put Ottumwa at an inch and Pella at 1.2 inches. The Oskaloosa area saw 2.5 inches of snow. Knoxville's official total was 6 inches.

The National Weather Service has put together a web page for the storm. Click here to go to it.

The below animation from the NWS shows the storm as it moved through the state.
