CENTERVILLE — Authorities are looking for an Appanoose County man who escaped from the Clarinda Correctional Facility Friday morning.
Rodney Eugene Long, 38, was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of third degree burglary. He began serving the sentence in March. The Iowa Department of Corrections website listed his tentative discharge date as September 2014, though that estimate does not take his escape into account.
The Clarinda facility is a minimum security prison. Long reportedly escaped by jumping a fence sometime after 4 a.m.
Long is described as a white male with brown hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on his wrists. He is five-foot-nine and weighs 144 pounds.
