MCCB holiday weekend activities set

OSKALOOSA — Mahaska County Conservation Board has announced two activities at the Eveland Access campgrounds for the entire family to enjoy over the Fourth of July holiday.

The public and campers are invited to join the MCCB staff at a “Reptile Round-Up” at the campground shelter on Friday and the movie “The Lorax” at the outdoor campground movie area on Saturday.

The “Reptile Round-Up” will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in the shelter house. The naturalist, Laura DeCook, will provide an informational program about reptiles and allow the audience to hold them. Then the reptiles will entertain everyone with turtle racing and snakes painting pictures.

The movie “The Lorax” will be shown at dark at the campground movie area. Popcorn and soda will be available to purchase. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket to enjoy the outdoor movie with the park rangers.

There is no cost to attend these events. For more information, call the Mahaska County Conservation Board at 641-673-9327.
