Eldon library celebrates 100 years

ELDON — The Friends of the Eldon Carnegie Public Library will be hosting an open house to celebrate the library’s 100th birthday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

There will be crafts for kids from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The Friends will be holding its annual meeting at noon, and there will be a presentation by Shana Stuart at 1 p.m. Stuart is the director of the Carnegie Libraries in Iowa Project, a database of the University of Iowa Libraries that is working to document the history of these libraries and their communities.

The event is open to the public.
