OTTUMWA — The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter, is offering a free comprehensive educational program from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ottumwa Public Library.
The event will begin with a basic overview of Alzheimer's and related diseases from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a more in-depth look at how to care for people in the latter stages of Alzheimer's and related diseases from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and will conclude with a question-and-answer open forum from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This comprehensive program is suitable to anyone caring for someone with Alzheimer's or related diseases or for anyone interested in a foundational understanding of these illnesses. Those interested may attend any or all of the three sessions. Classes will be taught by local Alzheimer's Association professional Jerry Schroeder, MSW. Schroeder has been in the field of senior care for more than 25 years.
