OTTUMWA —Approving a behavioral health region and approving the county as a fiscal agent for that region will be on the Wapello County Board of Supervisors' agenda when they meet today.
Supervisor Steve Siegel said Monday that the board members plan to approve a South Central Behavioral Health Region 28E agreement. Other members of the region include Davis and Appanoose counties.
"The board will also approve Wapello County as the fiscal agent for the South Central Behavioral Health Region 28E," Siegel said. "Chapter 28E in the Code of Iowa spells out how inter-county, inter-governmental agreements would be handled. That's the code section that describes them."
Siegel also noted the code requests counties form a region, and they have to do so through the 28E agreement process.
"Wapello County will be the fiscal agent and will still receive money and pay the bills," Siegel said. "We're keeping the funds of the county with the county and with the 28E arrangment as much as possible."
In other business, the board will also discuss renewing the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool, amending the Wapello County Health Plan (amendments 13 and 15), acknowledging a letter from Drainage District #9 trustees and voting on a resolution for Drainage District #9 property assessments.
The board will meet at 9:30 a.m. today in the county courthouse.
