Board of supervisors to work on county’s budget

Courier Staff Writer

OTTUMWA — The Wapello County Board of Supervisors are still working on the budget and will hold a public hearing on a loan agreement during the board’s meeting next week.

The loan agreement is part of the issuance of notes not to exceed $4.8 million in general obligation capital loan notes, according to Supervisor Greg Kenning.

After the board members handle the public hearing for the loan notes, they’ll set the date for a budget public hearing, he added.

The supervisors will also discuss a contract with Professional Computer Solutions. Kenning said the PCS staff will redesign the county’s website.

The board will also contribute funds to the youth activity fund for the American Gothic Performing Arts Festival.

Next the board will discuss a proposed tax abatement, Kenning said. The action pertains to the food bank property.

Two letters of support are also on the county’s agenda. The first one is for supporting the Ottumwa Women’s Crisis Center and the other is for Ottumwa Job Corps.

The meeting is slated for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the county courthouse.
