Boat registrations expire April 30
OTTUMWA — The Wapello County Recorder’s office is reminding all boat owners that boat registrations will expire effective April 30. A $5 penalty will be assessed on all renewals done after April 30.
New registrations will be for a three-year period with an expiration of April 30, 2016. Any transfer of ownership for boats must also include a bill of sale, registration and title, if applicable. The recorder’s office is required to collect sales tax on all boat transfers.
No notice will be sent for renewals.
A new registration system is in place that will allow for faster registration/titling in the future. The registration year is a transition year, so registrations may take slightly longer than usual.
