OTTUMWA — Wapello County will have a busy year of secondary road construction, according to Supervisor Steve Siegel.

“The upcoming construction year starts in July,” Siegel said. “The crew will finish the Chillicothe Bridge project and also pave the road from the bridge into town.”

Another project will be the overlay on Bluegrass Road from Ottumwa to 194th Avenue.

Also on the list is the Eldon-Floris Road. A crew will work on the road from the bridge to the county line.

Competine Road will also get some help. Repairs will be from U.S. Highway 34 to Bladensburg Road.

“And we’ll also start the work on Rock Bluff Road,” Siegel said. “They’ll elevate the road and pave it.”

The county leaders have also ordered work for several smaller bridges and other smaller projects.

The supervisors will also discuss the 2013-14 library contracts for the county’s libraries. Siegel said the board will divide the money among the libraries in Eddyville, Agency, Eldon, Blakesburg and Ottumwa.

“There’s $50,000 that the libraries will share,” Siegel said.

Board members will also discuss a project agreement with Southern Iowa Development and Conservation Authority (SIDCA). The group will put in a new culvert under 201st Avenue near the Davis County line and the total cost will be $45,000.

Siegel also noted the cost will be shared by Wapello County, SIDCA and the landowner.

The supervisors will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the third-floor courtroom of the Wapello County Courthouse.
