OTTUMWA — Roads and personnel topped the agenda for the Wapello County Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday morning.
The supervisors have road contracts with Norris Asphalt Paving for work on Bluegrass Road, $93,000; Competine Road, $654,000; and Eldon-Floris Road, $646,000. Wapello County Supervisor Steve Siegel said the projects are the reason the supervisors have bonded for $200,000. The work should be completed by mid-November, according to Supervisor Greg Kenning.
Supervisor Jerry Parker said the county is also planning to do work on the Chillicothe Bridge this year.
Siegel said the county is looking for someone to fill the new information technology director position. Wapello County GIS Coordinator Jordan Scupien has been handling a lot of the current information technology concerns. He suggested posting the position on the Iowa State Association of Counties' (ISAC) website, as well as other publications.
Siegel said he hoped the county could fill the position sometime in July.
