Davis County Players to present Mark Twain revue
BLOOMFIELD — The Davis County Players will present the comedy revue “Twain By The Tale” at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15 at the Iowa Theatre in Bloomfield.
The production, written for the stage by Dennis Snee with interlude music by Gregg Saeger, adapts works by author Samuel Clemons, better known as Mark Twain.
Familiar characters presented in some of the short sketches include Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Becky Thatcher — as well some lesser-known but highly comedic Twain protagonists. Some of the skits include audience interaction. Twain himself — portrayed by veteran Davis County actor Danny Van Horn — appears in sketches throughout.
Besides Van Horn’s Twain character, Davis County performers in the production include Julie Griffin, Aleta Mikels, Ron Bride, Rita Grob, Richard Wortmann, Michelle Williams, Jeff Owen, Katie Graves, Alex Forsythe, James Grob, Benjamin Spurgeon and Bailey Spurgeon.
Many in the ensemble of talented Davis County performers play multiple roles, which adds to the fun for audience and actors alike.
The play is directed by Gary Spurgeon and includes piano accompaniment by Karen Spurgeon. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
