Spring Fest this weekend in Bentonsport
BENTONSPORT — The annual Bentonsport Spring Fest is this weekend.
Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday.
New this year, Betty Printy at Iron and Lace has created a clay bread baker for the baking of artisan bread.
The main food court with the sponsored event is in the block with the local shops, offering Mini Melts Ice Cream, soft shelled tacos, handmade tenderloins, turkey legs, homemade cinnamon rolls, kettle corn and Sweet Sue’s fudge. Some farmer market vendors such as Rainbow Farms will have homemade jams and jellies. Spring plants and flowers will be available in the park. A flea market in the park will include crafts, gifts and antique vendors. The Van Buren County Conservation Board sponsors this yearly event, along with support from Bentonsport Businesses.
Shops open range from Amish to Victorian with handmade Amish quilt racks, shelves, rocking chairs, quilts, rugs, dolls, Victorian pillowcases, purses and other gift items.
The Indian artifact museum will be open along with the Gem4Me shop;l Iron and Lace, featuring working blacksmith Bill Printy and Betty Printy turning a potter’s wheel; and the historic Mason House Inn.
Campgrounds are available.
A Memorial Day Celebration at the historic Bentonsport Presbyterian Church begins at 6:30 p.m. May 25. Other activities include a Bonaparte Pottery Tour, Buckskinner's Rendezvous, and Go-Kart Races at Shimek Speedway.
