The Ottumwa Community Players will present “On Golden Pond” at 7 p.m. Nov. 2-3 and 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Bridge View Center.
The production focuses on Ethel and Norman Thayer, a couple facing difficulties in their twilight years, including Norman’s turblent relationship with his daughter, Chelsea.
“The stage production closely follows the movie; however, all scenes take place inside the Thayer summer home on Golden Pond and the show moves much more quickly,” said Director Todd Williams.
“‘On Golden Pond’ is going to go down in history as one of our most beloved shows,” said OCP President Becky Ingle. “People of all ages really love the classic movie; OCP’s production promises to be equally moving.”
Cast members include Bill Hornback and Barbara Kiple as Norman and Ethel Thayler, Teri Runkle as Chelsea, Dennis Durst as Bill Ray, Kendal Durst as Billy Ray, Todd Williams as Charlie, the postmaster, and Peyton Nelson as the phone operator.
Alice Richardson, a 30-year veteran of OCP, is serving as chairwoman of stage props for this production. Those involved in set building include Konnie Milder, Richard and Kim Heckart, Jim Clingman, Margit Trautmann, Becky Ingle and Lucy Gamon.
Tickets are $10 adults; $8 students and are available at the door or in advance through TicketMaster or at the Bridge View Center office.
