Former Ottumwan Jacqueline Brockert has penned two books, “Karma Corn” and “Once Upon a Cupcake.”
“Karma Corn” is set in Brockert’s own backyard as she shares the story of three best friends that vicariously set off for a weekend away based on where Karma will lead them. The story follows them from the beginning of a weekend trip, to a journey that changes their group and hearts for a lifetime. The book is first in the series followed by the second book, “Once Upon a Cupcake,” set in New York City.
The town of Ottumwa is mentioned in the first book “Karma Corn,” along with characters fashioned around people Brockert met in college. She lived in Ottumwa for four years working at a local restaurant. Upon graduating college, she moved to Dallas, New York and Colorado before settling with her two children back in Danville, Iowa. When she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 50, she knew that it was time to make positive changes in her life and begin her career as a writer.
Both books will soon be available at O’Town Books in Ottumwa. Both books are available in paperback and ebook format at Amazon.com and other booksellers.
