Five things to do in southeast Iowa this weekend

OTTUMWA — Music, monster trucks and memorable moments — this weekend will bring an eclectic mix of performing arts, sports, activities and informational sessions to the region.

1. Start the weekend by taking special care of your furry friends. Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation in Fairfield is hosting a low-cost Microchip and Vaccination Clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation, 1986 Gear Ave. This clinic is open to the public and will offer micro-chipping by a licensed veterinarian, which includes free registration of the chip, rabies vaccinations, as well as yearly vaccinations for both dogs (DA2PP, Bordatella) and cats (FVRCP). All proceeds benefit the animals and programs of Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation. Visit www.noahsark.org for more information on the shelter and programs.

2. Start your Easter celebration early with a hunt for candy and prizes. The Eddyville Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eddyville Elementary School. C C Club invites all children to attend the Easter Egg Hunt. You are never to young or old. There will be three age groups, and all children must hunt their own eggs without parental help. Bring your cameras, because the Easter Bunny will be hopping by.

3. Rev your engine and get ready for the Spring Nationals Monster Trucks & Motorsports Spectacular in two great shows Saturday. The first begins at 2 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. at Bridge View Center. There is a pit party for two hours before each show starts, and there is an autograph session after each show. You don’t want to miss this — it's 1,300-horsepower monster trucks, catching air and crushing cars. The monsters will be going head-to-head in multiple events, including the crowd favorite: the freestyle round. For more information, contact Bridge View Center at 641-684-7000 or go to www.BridgeViewCenter.com.
