The Wapello County Trails Council is hosting its eighth annual Holiday Lighted Hike from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 in Ottumwa Park.
The hike begins at the trailhead located behind Herberger’s in the Quincy Place Mall parking lot and will proceed through the Holiday Nights ’n’ Lights display. Cost is $5 per person.
The one-mile hike gives participants an opportunity to get a sneak preview of the upcoming seasonal light display from a unique perspective — outside a car. This is the only opportunity to see the lights in this way. Hikers must start the hike by 7:30 p.m.
Refreshments, including chili, hot dogs, cookies and hot chocolate, will be available. Hikers should dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. Luminaries will line portions of the trail. All proceeds support trail development in Ottumwa.
