The Little Sisters of Hoboken are headed to Hollywood, and you’re invited along for the ride.
The national tour of “Nunset Boulevard: The Nunsense Hollywood Bowl Show” starring actress Cindy Williams comes to the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15.
This time around, the sisters are excited to be performing at the Hollywood Bowl, only to discover a misunderstanding — they’ve actually been invited to the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama. But when a famous producer is auditioning for a new musical about the life of Dolores Hart, the movie star who became a nun, the might find their big break after all.
While best known for her role as Shirley Feeney on the show “Laverne and Shirley,” the multi-talented Williams has long been enjoyed on television, in movies and on the Broadway stage.
Being part of a national tour has given Williams a special perspective on the people and the personality of each region the show visits.
“It’s the people, all those friendly, wonderful people in America, and certainly Iowa is that place. I prefer to play Iowa than someplace like L.A.,” Williams said in an interview with the Courier. “It’s just the friendliness. They’re not critical. There’s not the focus on glitter and glitz.”
The Nunset Boulevard show features all-new songs, audience participation and plenty of humor.
“There’s a lot of great singing, but not by me. By Bambi Jones, Christine Mild, Jeanne Tinker and Stephanie Wahl,” Williams explained. But the audience will still enjoy her singing in the chorus and in two of her own numbers.
All of the beloved Nunsense characters are back, and their new adventures bring surprises and laughs
“It’s a whole bunch of fun. It’s a great show to bring the whole family to,” Williams said.
