FAIRFIELD — Two Roads Educational Arts and Theater presents “Super Sidekick: The Musical,” an enthusiastic, family-friendly superhero musical, perfecting the art of live-action cartoon at the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts for three performances — 7 p.m. April 12; and 2 and 7 p.m. April 13.

At an hour long, Super Sidekick is a quick moving, no-frills adventure kids are sure to enjoy. For the big people that bring the kids, there are well-rounded performances, a couple solid gags and expertly crafted lyrics to keep their interest piqued, too.

When famous superhero Blackjack the Bold is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer, it’s up to his assistant Inky to step up and save the day. Little does he know that he’ll also have to contend with Ninja Koalas, dark caves, secret weapons and an abducted princess who’s considerably braver than he is.

Tickets are $12 for youth and $18 for adults and available at the ticket office, 641-472-2787 and online at

The April 12 performance of Super Sidekick is “Hero Appreciation Night” with $12 tickets for all servicemen and women (law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs/first responders, nurses, doctors and military, both active and veterans). April 13 is “Educator Appreciation Night” with $12 tickets for all educators.
