The Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra’s “25 Men Who Can Cook” fundraiser will return to the Bridge View Center on Jan. 26.
Twenty-five Ottumwa area men will prepare their favorite dishes to share with the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main lobby of the Bridge View Center. Dishes will include soup, salads, appetizers, entrées, side dishes and desserts.
Last year’s People’s Choice winner Jeff Bittner will be cooking “in exhibition” at this year’s event. Attendees at this year’s friendly competition will again be voting for a People’s Choice winner. In addition, the cooks will be judged in various food categories by a panel of local chefs including Gordon Radar (Indian Hills Community College), Adam McKinney (Bridge View Center), Charlie Schiller (Ottumwa Country Club) and Alex Beltran (Hy-Vee).
Gentlemen who will be preparing their specialties for the event include Mark Altfillisch, Tom Awtry, Alan Babb, Larry Basar, Larry Cofer, Dar Fish, Dan Ford, Ron Graeff, Don Halferty, Andy Hansen, Kermit Knott, Mick Lawson, Brad Little, Bill Keith, Steve Palen, Brett Phippen, Steve Sprouse, Lyle Stirling, Jim Vonderhaar, Kent Walker, Jeff Wiley, Hans Wilz, Jeremy Weller and Billy Young.
The public is encouraged to attend to support their favorite chef and the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra. Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, and provide you the opportunity to sample all 25 dishes.
Advance tickets are available by calling Bob Morrissey at 641-680-7685. Tickets will also be on sale at Bridge View Center on the day of the event.
